Call for Local, National, International Experimental Audio Artists
Deadline for submissions: Friday, June 30, 2017, 11:59 CST
Sounds Like Festival Dates: November 9 to 11, 2017.
Sounds Like and The Unheard Sound Collective invite local, national and international audio artists to submit proposals for the latest iteration of Saskatchewan's only audio art festival. We are seeking submissions for audio works responding to the theme for this year’s festival: DIALOGUES, a critical investigation of sound as interpersonal discourse. We are looking for innovative approaches to this theme primarily through live performances since there are no dedicated gallery spaces available for installation based work. Additionally, the selection committee will consider proposals for public or site-specific installations with well-planned and feasible technical requirements.
Please send an electronic submission with the subject line SOUNDS LIKE 2017 PROPOSAL to email@example.com by June 30, 2017, 11:59 pm CST.

Sounds Like is an annual audio art festival based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Started in 2011 by AKA artist-run, it quickly expanded to a three-fold partnership between PAVED Arts, a Saskatoon media based artist-run gallery and production centre and Holophon, a non-profit organization that seeks to unite communities using sound as an artistic medium.
Under the direction of PAVED Arts since 2016, Sounds Like has been reformatted as an annual project of sustained curatorial exploration. PAVED Arts has engaged Saskatoon’s Unheard Sound Collective to curate the 7th edition of the festival. Along with the artists already invited to perform at the festival, successful applicants to this open call will be selected in consideration of the curatorial thematic by a jury of contemporary audio artists and curators drawn from the local community.
